Bush Trimming & Shrub Pruning in Utah

Neat hedges, healthy shrubs, and walkways, windows and fences kept clear.

Good pruning does more than tidy things up. Cutting at the right time and in the right place keeps shrubs dense, healthy and in proportion with your home. Our crews shape hedges, thin out overgrown shrubs and remove dead or damaged growth.

What's Included

Pruning on Utah's Calendar

Most deciduous shrubs are best pruned in late winter or early spring, before new growth starts. Spring bloomers like lilac and forsythia should be pruned right after they flower, or you’ll cut off next year’s blooms. Formal hedges and evergreens usually need a light shaping in late spring or early summer. We’ll recommend the right timing for what’s growing in your yard.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should shrubs be trimmed?

Most shrubs need pruning once or twice a year. Formal hedges may need shaping two or three times during the growing season.

Can you save an overgrown shrub?

Often, yes. Many overgrown shrubs can be brought back with renewal pruning over one to three seasons, taking out a few of the oldest stems each time. If a shrub is too far gone, we’ll tell you and suggest a replacement.
