Annual & Perennial Flower Bed Planting in Utah

Seasonal color, plus perennials that come back year after year.

Flower beds are where a yard gets its personality. We plant annuals for bold seasonal color and perennials that return every year, chosen for your sun, your soil and how much watering you want to do.

What's Included

Color That Fits Utah's Seasons

Along the Wasatch Front, frost-tender annuals usually go in from mid-May, after the last frost. Water-wise perennials such as penstemon, salvia, yarrow, catmint and blanket flower handle Utah heat and need less water than most annuals. In St. George’s mild winters, cool-season color like pansies can carry beds through to spring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Annuals or perennials: which should I choose?

Annuals bloom all season but need replanting every year. Perennials come back each year but bloom for a shorter stretch. Most beds look best with a mix.

Can you take care of the beds after planting?

Yes. See Garden Bed Design & Maintenance for weeding, deadheading and seasonal care.
