Rainwater Collection Systems in Utah

Capture rain from your roof and put it to work in your garden.

An inch of rain on 1,000 square feet of roof adds up to about 600 gallons of water. We install rain barrels and larger tanks that capture that runoff and put it to use in your garden beds, instead of sending it down the gutter.

What's Included

Utah's Rainwater Rules

Utah law lets property owners collect rainwater without a water right. You can use up to two covered containers of 100 gallons or less without registering. For more storage, up to 2,500 gallons in total, register for free with the Utah Division of Water Rights. The water has to be used on the same property where it’s collected.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much water can I collect?

Roughly 600 gallons per inch of rain for every 1,000 square feet of roof. Your system size depends on your roof, your downspouts and what you want to water.

Do I need to register my rain barrels?

Not if you have no more than two containers of 100 gallons or less. Anything larger needs a free online registration with the Utah Division of Water Rights.
